About 2 weeks ago we went for our first ultrasound and we got to see our baby girl for the first time. She spent the whole time twirling, whirling and spinning which in return gave the sono-tech a run for her money, lol. It was so amazing to see her on that screen, our eyes were glued to the moniter and we enjoyed every moment of watching that beautiful little baby girl. The doctors visit was alittle less joyful. We walked in feeling over the moon and completley excited about our girl, then we got some unsettling news. Kinsley had some cysts on her brain and the doctors were worried that she could have Trisomy 18- a genetic disorder that is fatal if not in the womb then usually by age 1. They decided that they would send us to see some specialists in Burlington to undergo some further testing. Needless to say that our world kind of came out from under us in a matter of seconds. After I had a full on breakdown and a few good cries, Anthony and I decided that we couldn't get through this without God. We immediately started praying, along with some of our family and close friends, and turned it all over to God. He has a plan for everything and we knew that He would never give us anything that we couldn't handle or get through. After 2 weeks of waiting we made the trip to Burlington to the specialists. After going over her with a fine tooth comb so to speak, they told us that she still had two cysts, one on each side of her brain, but that she did not have any of the other markers or signs of Trisomy 18. She was perfect in every other way, shape and form. The specialist told me that I was very low risk for Trisomy 18, 1 out of 700, and that they see these types of cysts on babies all the time (he said that the cysts should go away on their own). God answered our prayers and I can't tell you how estatic we were to hear the good news!! Although they can't tell us 100% that we are in the clear for the disease without an amnio (which I am not doing due to the risks invovled) we are just going to continue to place our trust and faith in God and continue to pray that our little precious baby girl will be healthy and strong-We would love and appreciate your prayers for our little girl as well. God is amazing in everyway, He works miracles everyday and Kinsley is our little miracle!
